A Bit of Cruel History

In 1989 something unusual was introduced to Sunday readers of a small town newspaper, a single panel cartoon called "Cruel World".

Cruel World featured slightly offbeat and sometimes annoyingly edgy cartoons of the type that have become more popular in the last 20 years.

Cruel World ran for several weeks but because of limited distribution wasn't exactly the sensation as was hoped. Eventually the supplement featuring the cartoon was dropped by the paper. The authors, going by the names Russell and Jordan let the project languish for nearly two decades until the time was right to reintroduce Cruel World to an unsuspecting world. This website is that reintroduction, and you, the gentle reader now become that unsuspecting world.

The comics will be shown to you in no particular order, some will be left out altogether (the timeliness is lost on some) and new cartoons will be added as the site progresses. So now, submitted for your approval, a journey into a strange and wondrous land where things aren't as they seem, but tend to reflect the world as it is, at the signpost up ahead, your next stop: the Cruel World...
