There was a dark day back in 1989 when Cruel World received its first hate mail. It was a scathing letter to the editor that really took the wind out of our sails. In fact it was so brutal that Cruel World was removed from the paper altogether.
That's the urban legend, actually the Sunday supplement was cancelled the following week, but it's a better story the other way!
